[00:00:06] Speaker A: Welcome to Bedtime Bible, a Westminster Kids prayer podcast. My name is Pastor Scott and I will lead you in a time to rest in God's presence in prayer, story and song as we prepare for sleep. Dear God, we are here with you now. Help our minds to grow calm, our hearts to open wide, and our bodies to find rest. We know you are with us in this moment of stillness. Amen. I invite you to close your eyes, place your hands on your stomach and feel the breath moving into your body and then being slowly released. Continue breathing slowly for a few moments. Loving God, thank you for this day. Some parts of our day were happy and some parts were hard. In every moment you were with us. Thank you for walking beside us when we laughed and when we cried, when we felt strong, when we felt tired. We are grateful that nothing can separate us from your love. Amen. Our story is from Rebekah and Isaac From Genesis, chapter 24 Abraham's servant traveled far. He stood by a well, tired and thirsty. At the end of the day, his thirsty camels shuffled and kicked their feet. The servant waited and waited and waited. God, Abraham sent me to find a wife for Isaac. The servant prayed, show me who it should be. Have the right woman give water to me and my camels too. Just then, a woman came to fill her own jar of water. Abraham's servant jumped up. Please, may I have a drink of water? He asked. Yes, and I will give water to your camels too, she replied. Abraham's servant clapped his hands. This was the one. This woman would be Isaac's wife. He ran up to her and took two big gulps of water. What's your name? He asked. Rebecca. Rebecca agreed to become engaged to Isaac. Soon they were married. Rebekah and Isaac wanted to have a baby. They waited and waited and waited. Finally, God blessed Isaac and Rebekah with twin sons. The babies wrestled each other in Rebekah's belly. Rebekah asked God why the babies were fighting. God told her, one of your sons will be stronger than the other. The other will serve. The younger Harry Esau was born first. Smooth skinned Jacob came second. Grabbing his brother's heel. The brothers competed against each other from their very first day. Let us pray. Dear God, sometimes brothers, sometimes sisters. Sometimes brothers and sisters fight and argue and carry on. We pray, Lord, that you will help us be good brothers and sisters to each other. We pray that if we are an only child that we will be friendly and nice with our friends and with our families. Dear Lord. And when those moments come, when we're fighting with someone or arguing or being a little mean. Let us stop catch ourselves and remember that you want us to be nice to each other. And then let us forgive each other and forgive ourselves. Because even though Esau and Jacob fought all the time, you still love them. And we know that you love us. Amen. [00:05:58] Speaker B: Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart not be all else too to me save that thou art. [00:06:16] Speaker A: Now. [00:06:16] Speaker B: My best thought by day or by.
