[00:00:02] Speaker A: Hi, I'm Pastor Scott, and welcome to Bedtime Bible, a Westminster kids prayer podcast.
And I'll be leading you in a time to rest in God's presence in prayer, story and song as we prepare for sleep.
So let's begin with a prayer.
Dear God, we are here with you now.
Help our minds to grow calm, our hearts to open wide, and our bodies to find rest.
We know you are with us in this moment of stillness.
Amen.
Now let's take a moment before we listen to the scripture to just calm our breaths and prepare.
I invite you to close your eyes, place your hands on your stomach, and feel the breath moving into your body and then slowly released.
Very good.
Loving God, thank you for this day.
Some parts were happy and some parts were hard.
In every moment you were with us.
Thank you for walking beside us when we laughed and when we cried, when we felt strong and when we felt tired.
We are grateful that nothing can separate us from your love.
Amen.
Now let's listen to the Bible passage.
This is from the very beginning of the Bible in the Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 1 and 2, through chapter 2, verse 4a.
In the beginning, nothing made sense.
It was chaos.
The earth hadn't taken shape yet.
Darkness was everywhere. But God's spirit was already there, already moving, moving, moving.
God decided to set things in order.
God made light and saw that it was good.
God made light day and darkness, night.
God created the sky and separated the water from the land.
Plants and trees popped up out of the ground.
God filled the sea with all kinds of fish. And God saw that it was good.
The sun shone brightly during the day.
The moon glowed gently at night.
Birds burst into the sky. Bugs buzzed into the air.
Worms crawled through the dirt. The fields and forests thundered under the feet of God's animals.
And God saw that it was good.
God created people, male and female.
I have placed my image on you. I bless you. God said, all of this creation is for you. Eat the plants, tend the animals, care for creation and grow and grow.
God looked over all creation.
It was very good.
Finally, God rested.
What a wonderful story.
And once again, let us pray.
Dear Lord, thank you for creating us and our world, for creating the sky and light and moon and sun and all of the birds and trees and all of the blessings.
And we thank you for making us.
We ask, dear Lord, that you will watch over us in all your creation, that we may recognize each new day how wonderfully strong you are to have created this world and how much you love us.
We give thanks to you in Jesus name.
Amen.
Sam.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: O Lord of light, who made the stars o dawn, by whom we see the way, O Christ, Redeemer of us all, make haste to listen as we pray in lowliness. You came on earth to rescue us from Satan snares.
O wondrous love that healed our wounds by taking up our mortal care.
[00:06:34] Speaker A: To.
[00:06:34] Speaker B: Guide the Father and the Son for ages of eternal days.
Together with the Spirit be all Glory, honor might and praise.
[00:07:08] Speaker A: Gracious God as the night falls and we close our eyes, bless our sleep with your peace.
Surround our family with your love.
Calm our thoughts and give us rest for tomorrow.
Keep us safe in your care now and always.
Amen.
Good night.
